New Delhi: Prices of petrol and diesel have reached the highest level after 2014 . The crude oil prices in the international market have been halfway above three years ago, despite the price of petrol and diesel in the country. In Mumbai, the price of petrol went up by Rs 80 per liter on Wednesday. Since the arrival of the Modi government, crude oil prices have dropped by 53 percent in the international market, but instead of decreasing the price of petrol, diesel has increased wildly. The real reason behind this is that in three years the government has increased excise duty on petrol, diesel several times.

According to rough estimates, duty on petrol has increased from Rs 10 liters to about 22 rupees. Let us tell you how the petrol of around 27 rupees comes to us and gets 70 and 80 rupees. Today, petrol costs 70 rupees 38 paise in Delhi. The cost of buying a liter of petrol from the refinery is Rs 26.65. It costs Rs 4.5 and marketing margins and expenses. At the same time, it has a central tax of Rs 21.48.

After this the total becomes 52 rupees 18 paise. On this, the dealer's commission is 3 rupees 24 paise and after this, local VAT and cess cost Rs 14.96. I.e., 26 rupees 65 paise, the petrol you buy from the refinery becomes 70 rupees for you.
